“I think it is a mental hurdle that you have to get over”- Kyrie Irving opens up on tough situation around Ben Simmons

Kyrie Irving talked about the return of Ben Simmons to Philadelphia last night, and how should the Nets player overcome this tough situation.

The Brooklyn Nets and the Philadelphia 76ers faced each other in what was a much-awaited clash due to the return of Ben Simmons to Philadelphia. The Nets were surprised by an injury-ridden 76ers and despite their big three playing, the Nets lost the game. Sites like had given high odds and all popular types of outcomes for the much awaited game.

After the game, Kyrie Irving was asked about Simmons and how he should handle things going forward as he has now experienced the wrath of fans in Philadelphia, who was very upset with him because of how things went last season.

Talking about Ben Simmons, Kyrie Irving said, I think it is a mental hurdle that you have to get over, He played extremely well a game ago and then came in tonight, I think he played well tonight. And we just got to be there for one another and support each other.”

Kevin Durant also spoke about the return of Simmons to Philadelphia and related to his experience of returning to Oklahoma for the first time after signing with the Golden State Warriors.

KD said, “There’s a lot of emotions, You just want to play well. We know the fans are going to be involved and get excited — not get excited, but just bring their best. But that’s in every arena. Everybody wants to see our team fail. Nobody likes Ben, nobody likes Ky, nobody likes myself, so it might be like that at every road arena.”

Kevin Durant added, “So it’s just something we got to deal with. But I thought [Simmons] did a great job of just handling it and playing his game, and we had chances to win, but we just didn’t.”

Ben Simmons opened up on his return to Philadelphia

Ben Simmons, who was traded to the Brooklyn Nets from the Philadelphia 76ers the previous season, played his first game back in Philadelphia with his new team. As expected Ben Simmons was given a rough welcome by the fans in Philadelphia upon his homecoming, but the player responded in a mature and professional manner to the situation.

He said that the greeting did not come as a surprise to him and that he had anticipated a little bit more from the 76ers supporters. Ben Simmons has also indicated that he is in a healthy mental condition and that he does not anticipate that incidents such as this will have an effect on him moving ahead.

After the loss to the 76ers, Ben Simmons said, “I feel like I’m in a good place, I’m happy, I’m doing what I love. So to be out there and have that experience was amazing. Obviously it wasn’t the result we wanted. It’s frustrating to lose a game like that, but I think it’s a good step forward.”

Even though the Brooklyn Nets were defeated, they will be pleased to see Ben Simmons play in such an aggressive manner in the future. Simmons is going to need to perform at an all-star level for this team to have any chance of winning a title this year.
