Anthony Davis and LeBron James led the way for the Los Angeles Lakers as they defeated the Milwaukee Bucks.
The victory over the Milwaukee Bucks, who were spearheaded by Giannis Antetokounmpo, was the greatest effort turned in by the Los Angeles Lakers so far this season. Anthony Davis once again excelled for the Lakers, leading the team in scoring with 44 points while also grabbing 10 rebounds.
While LeBron James led the way offensively for the Lakers with 28 points and 11 assists, Russell Westbrook concluded the game with 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 11 assists. The Lakers’ offense came out to play against the best defense in the NBA.
Talking about the Lakers’ win over the Bucks, Skip Bayless said, “Despite the shaky finish, great overall performance by the Lakers, who actually resembled contenders. AD stood up to Giannis with 44 pts and 10 rbs (all in the 2nd half). Both Bron and Russ had 11 assists and ZERO TURNOVERS. Lakers won the boards. Lakers looked like … Lakers!”
Anthony Davis is now in the running for Most Valuable Player and has a good chance of winning the award if the Lakers continue to play the way they have been. The Lakers’ record currently stands at 9-12. Over the past several weeks, he has demonstrated play that has put him in contention for the title of the best player in the league.
Even though Giannis Antetokounmpo had a tremendous game and scored 40 points, the Bucks still lost to the Lakers by a score of 133-129 despite the Greek Freak’s performance. This game was also Khris Middleton’s first game of the season, and he finished it with 17 points.
Despite a great team win for the Lakers in which LeBron James played exceptionally well, Skip Bayless took a dig at him. Bayless said, “LeBron obviously wanted no part of driving and having to shoot free throws on 3rd to last possession, then almost laughably hot-potatoed by ball to … Westbrook? … so he (LBJ) didn’t have to shoot the free throws. Westbrook predictably missed both. But AD finally made one.”
LeBron James was once again hurt as Khris Middelton fell into his ankle but the injury scare quickly went away and LeBron played well in the fourth quarter to help the Lakers to this big win against the Bucks.
They have a long east-coast trip but it started in the best way possible with the win against one of the best teams in the NBA. Next up the Lakers will be up against the Washington Wizards where they will face a familiar face in the form of Kyle Kuzma.
Kuzma was an integral part of the Lakers championship team and was part fo the Russell Westbrook trade last season. He has been playing well for the Wizards this season and will look to play well against his former team as well. He has averaged 20.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in 22 games this season.
The Wizards are 11-12 and it will be interesting to see if the Lakers will get a win over them and extend their winning streak to three games ahead of LeBron James’ return to Cleveland on 6th December.
