Former Los Angeles Lakers player Malik Monk will be playing for the Sacramento Kings next season after signing a two-year contract with them.
The Free Agency is off to a crazy start in the NBA. We have already seen a major amount of money thrown towards the players as they are signing super max extensions with their teams.
Former Los Angeles Lakers guard Malik Monk will be signing with the Sacramento Kings. He will sign a two-year, $19M deal with the Kings.
Malik was tempted to stay with the Lakers, but unfortunately, the Lakers didn’t have enough money to offer Monk. Malik had a great year last season, and as a result, many teams were interested in acquiring him.
This is a very nice addition by the Sacramento Kings who are heading in a positive direction under a new coach. With new young players on the team, they can make noise next season.
Malik Monk had earlier shown desire to play for the Lakers for less money
Malik Monk had a great time with the Los Angeles Lakers. He had the best year of his career and became a crowd favorite in Los Angeles. Even though it was a tough season for the Lakers, Malik was the shining star.
Earlier, Monk had shown has an interest in playing for the Lakers even if he got less money from them. He said, “They might not be able to pay me as much as I want. But I could be here and be way more comfortable as a Laker than going to any other team and they’re paying me $5 million more. So it’s just me trying to figure out what team would really want me.”
Malik Monk with his move to Sacramento might be able to become even better. He will have less pressure around him, and with young players on the squad, this might be a good fit for him.
