Anfernee Simons shared what he was going through after he went 6 out of 6 from the three point line in the third quarter during the Portland Trail Blazers’ win over the LA Lakers.
The Portland Trail Blazers mounted a major comeback to win 106-104 over the Los Angeles Lakers from a point of a very less probable return, and secured their third win of the season. The Lakers seemed well on their way to securing their first win of the season with their heroics in the third quarter, but the Trail Blazers did not let up and found their way back into the game.
One of the key reasons that the Trail Blazers came back into the game was because of Anfernee Simons’ heroics in the third quarter where he completed all six of his three-pointers attempted. The 23-year-old Trail Blazers star went six out of six, and kept his team in the game – and more heroics from the Trail Blazers in the all-important fourth quarter ended up winning the game.
However, winning from such a troubled position would not have been possible without Simons. The 23-year-old won 29 points, 5 assists and 11-17 field goals at a very important juncture of the contest, and played an immense part in the Trail Blazers coming back into the game – and sounded satisfied with his heroics when speaking to the press following their win.
Simons addressed the press following the game, and shared his thinking during the third quarter.
Speaking to the press after the win, Simons shared that he was trying to get as many shots in as possible during what he described as a “hot streak” for him. Simons said: “I was trying to stay focused with a clean mind, and tried to get as many shots in as possible during my hot streak.”
When asked about his mental state while being in the “shooting zone”, Simons said: “At that point, you just start shooting blindly, trying to get up as many points as I can.” His strategy certainly worked out as the Trail Blazers completed a turnaround to register the win.
