Apart from his debut season with the Los Angeles Lakers, Anthony Davis has developed his image as an injury-prone player. Be it his foot (current) or his back issues, the 29-year-old has often struggled to be consistently on the court representing his team. With the 17-times NBA Champs having so much to cover if they were to feature in the knockout stage, Davis’ injury woes have surely affected their plans.
For those of you who haven’t been watching the Los Angeles Lakers in action, they are 13-19 already 3.0 games out of the No. 10 seed in the Western Conference. Having dropped 3 consecutive games, Anthony Davis’ absence in haunting them in the latter stages of the game when LeBron James and Russell Westbrook are bound to run the game in a pre-thought-off manner.
Davis was not only playing at an MVP level this season but was the leading point scorer for his team, outscoring the likes of Bron, Westbrook, Reaves and Lonnie Walker IV. The charismatic 29-year-old big man was averaging 27.4 points and 12.1 rebounds per game for the 2020 NBA Champs, while playing excellent defense and carrying a poor roster back to the brink of .500 after an abysmal 2-10 start.
As per Adrian Wojnarowski on the latest episode of ESPN’s NBA Today he mentioned how Davis’ absence cannot be determined right now. Moreover, he could well even appear before the time mentioned by many after resting out for the next 7-10 days before being re-evaluated.
He wrote in his tweet, “The pain has subsided in past several days in Anthony Davis’ foot and he’s expected to rest it for another 7-to-10 days and have it re-evaluated and see if he can return to play. For now, there’s hope that a procedure can be avoided.”
That being said, will Bron be able to break the 3-game losing skid for his team against Luka Doncic and his Dallas Mavericks on Christmas Day? Remains to be seen.
