The referees in the game between Lakers and Celtics were criticized by Anthony Davis, LeBron James and seemingly the entire Laker nation.
LeBron James was at it again, posting 41 points on the board with 9 rebounds and 8 assists. However, The Lakers could not benefit from his towering gameplay against the Celtics. The game went to overtime as the scored were tied at 105-105 at the end of regular time. The Lakers seem to have some or the other bump on the road to playoffs in the 2022-23 season.
The fans and experts have no doubt that the Los Angeles Lakers were pushed to the highest level of frustration by a few calls taken by the referees. In the dying minutes of the game, Lebron went ahead for a game winner and was clearly fouled by Jayson Tatum on his attempt.
Lebron James and Anthony Davis were seen to be furious after the referees denied the clear foul play. He replied to the questions concerning the last call on regular time. “You saw my reaction,” LeBron said, “It’s challenging, I don’t get it. I am attacking the paint just as much as any other guy in the league that’s shooting double-digit free throws a night. I don’t get it honestly.”
Anthony Davis says the referees cheated and gave the victory to Celtics
Anthony Davis was furious after the game. His body language while responding to the questions in the dressing room could be seen to be agitated. “It’s bulls*** at the end of the day, it’s unacceptable… We got cheated tonight, it’s a blatant foul.”
These were the only words he felt he could say after the game Lakers had. The L2M reports would make it clear that the referees missed the call on Lebron. However, that would not bring back the victory that Lakers truly deserved.
Anthony Davis scored 16 points with 10 rebounds and 6 assists in his second game after his injury. The referees need to be careful as every week there are games were teams end us losing important points as a result of poor judgement.
