Bill Simmons has claimed that Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis could be open to trade away from the franchise.
Anthony Davis has not had a great last couple of seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers. After playing second fiddle to LeBron James as the Lakers lifted the 2020 NBA Championship in the bubble, James was expected to reach the next level in the following few seasons – however, it did not work his way as his path to stardom was halted with a number of recurring injuries.
Since 2020, Davis has faced periods of time on the sidelines on account of more than 50 injuries – making it near impossible for him to enjoy a good run of games to find his form back. However, the center was buoyed by the fact that he was available for the Lakers from the first game this season – but this time, it is Davis’ form that has seen the big center’s progress halted.
Davis has averaged 20 points, 9.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists this season in a tally that could be called decent but does not do justice to his incredible talent. Even though Davis shot 29 in the Lakers’ latest game against Utah Jazz, he could not help his team get over the line as the Lakers stumbled to their third successive defeat – taking their season streak to an unwanted 2-8.
Following the game, reports emerged that the Lakers are willing to move the center on.
What were the rumors that emerged about the Lakers wanting to trade Anthony Davis?
Following the Lakers’ 139-116 loss to the Jazz, Bill Simmons claimed that the Lakers are willing to move Davis on in a trade.
Following the game, Simmons’ comments on a recent podcast by Kevin O’Connor of Spotify revolved around the Lakers wanting to move Davis in a trade deal. The NBA analyst reportedly got some buzz about the Lakers wanting to move Davis on in the off-season of 2023, the 29-year-old big man might be far too injury prone to occupy a regular starting spot as the center.
It is to be seen whether the Lakers do move on with their intentions of selling Davis on, with a majority of the season still left for Davis to make an impact.
