Anthony Edwards shut down Kevin Durant with an incredible block during the latest preseason between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Brooklyn Nets.
Kevin Durant is widely considered to be one of the best players in the game right now courtesy of his incredible jump, wingspan and shooting ability. Standing at 6’11” with a giant wingspan, it has often been considered near impossible to block a Kevin Durant shot (attested by Kobe Bryant in the past) – but it turns out that Anthony Edwards seems to have done the impossible.
The Minnesota Timberwolves guard pulled off one of the toughest tasks there is in the NBA – blocking a Kevin Durant shot and he did it in style. When the Minnesota Timberwolves were up against the Brooklyn Nets in their preseason finale, the Nets were leading by almost 20 points in the third quarter and Durant decided to add on to their advantage – however it was not to be.
Durant went up against Anthony Edwards of the Timberwolves and initially tried to wrong-foot Edwards by putting his back to the guard. In true Durant fashion, KD created room for himself with a couple of feints, but to his surprise – Edwards telegraphed every feint of his and was still at his heels by the time he got the shot underway. And when he did, Edwards was right there deny him.
Edwards was right on Durant’s heels all throughout the play and made sure to shut him down completely.
Right when KD tried to come up with a couple of feints to create room for himself and get his shot for a two pointer underway, Edwards telegraphed the whole play and tipped the ball out of Kevin Durant’s fingers to start a turnover. The move went viral on social media mmediately following the game, as NBA Twitter lauded Edwards who is rapidly developing as a player.
The block triggered a good part of the game for the Timberwolves, as while they did half the deficit, the game still ended in a losing cause for Edwards and the Timberwolves as they went down 102-112 to the Nets.
