NBA player Taurean Prince was recently arrested at the Miami airport

NBA star and Minnesota Timberwolves forward Taurean Prince was arrested this Thursday for unlawful drug and weapon possession and appeared in a Miami court on Friday.

The bond was granted by Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer when attorney of Prince said the charges are being dismissed in Tarrant, Texas.

The 28-year-old star was released on a bond of USD 2500 on Friday as he promised to appear in Texas court. The felony warrant of Prince is in progress as he promised to return to Texas and deal with the case as ordered by the judge.

Out-of-the-state fugitive chargers from Texas PD sent Prince to jail felony in Miami, Florida at  Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Prince needs to return to Texas and deal with the warrant

Attorney of the Taurean Prince, Weinstein told the Circuit Judge, “If he (Taurean Prince) had known the warrant existed, he would have surrendered.” Now, the player will return to Texas to face the warrant.

Weinstein told the court that he was unaware that police had filed the warrant for the low-level felony. Notably, the player was arrested as a fugitive from Miami International airport by the Texas PD. 

The reason for the arrest is possession of THC oil (illegal in Texas), marijuana, and a gun when the player was searched at a traffic stop in Texas.

Taurean Prince’s career highlights

Prince is a San Antonio native who attended Baylor college in Texas. He was drafted into the NBA in the year 2016 as the 12th overall pick.

Taurean joined Minnesota because of a trade from the Cleveland Cavs last off-season. Prince signed a two-year contract with the Wolves last year for USD 14.6 million. The contract is not guaranteed for the second year but he is a valuable role player for Minnesota.

During the 2021-2022 NBA season, Prince mostly came off the bench and averaged 7.3 points per game while playing 17 minutes a game.
