Atlanta Hawks have been reported to have emerged as contenders to sign Jae Crowder.

It has been reported that the Atlanta Hawks have emerged as the latest contender in the race to sign Phoenix Suns forward Jae Crowder. Crowder has had plenty of suitors lining up to secure his services for the season, and the Hawks have become the latest to join the race for him.

Jae Crowder

Crowder, a veteran who has played in the NBA for 10 years now, attracts quite an amount of bidders for his signature this summer. A forward with plenty of experience, Crowder was not heavily recruited out of high school–and despite being picked by the Cleveland Cavaliers in round 2 of the 2012 NBA Draft, he was moved on to the Dallas Mavericks that very night.

Hence Crowder began what would be a nomadic career, spending his 10 years in the NBA with the Mavericks, the Boston Celtics, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Utah Jazz, the Memphis Grizzlies, the Miami Heat, and the Phoenix Suns. Crowder also made his way to two NBA Finals in his decade-long NBA career, with the Heat and the Suns in 2020 and 2021, respectively.

Crowder is reputed for his all round ability and his rugged defending, and his addition would be a solid deal for many of the franchises in the NBA. However, recent reports have suggested that the Atlanta Hawks have emerged as the latest contenders to sign Crowder this trade window.

What are the recent reports linking Crowder to Atlanta all about?

Shams Charania of The Athletic has most recently linked Crowder to the Hawks.

Jae Crowder

Charania, a reputed NBA Insider, reported: “Sources tell me that the Hawks have emerged as a suitor amongst interested teams for the Phoenix Suns’ forward Jae Crowder. The Hawks and Suns have had conversations in recent weeks and months, as Atlanta are seeing if there’s a pathway to bring Crowder into a big three of Trae Young, Dejointe Murray and John Collins.

Charania added: “Several teams have been engaged in a potential deal for Crowder, who remains away from the Suns as both sides work on a resolution for his future.” The addition to Crowder to the roster could mean that the Hawks could presumably have a closing lineup of Young, Murray, Collins, Crowder and DeAndre Hunter that allows them to play five-out basketball.
