The Hawks’ run to the Conference Final was expected by no one last year as they had a very young squad who were just getting started to turn things around for the franchise in a couple of seasons.
Trae Young led this team to an unforgettable run last season as they qualified for the playoffs and then defeated the teams who were favored against them. They gave Milwaukee a run for their money also as the series went to game 6.
This season has been disappointing for the Hawks as they find themselves sitting at the 10th seed in the East with a record of 28-30 and will have to turn things around after the all-star break to qualify for the playoffs.
The Atlanta Hawks had a terrible start to the season which has left them in this struggling position currently. The Hawks got a couple of huge results in the past month which has made the situation some sort of better and gives them a good chance of making the playoffs again.
The biggest factor of their disappointing position in the standings in the East is the quality of teams. The Eastern Conference has gradually got a lot better than last season as the likes of the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers have improved this time and have a good chance of making a deep playoff run this season which has eventually put the teams like Hawks and the Nets into huge pressure.
The Atlanta Hawks still have a good chance of making the playoffs and then once the playoffs start, they might again do the stuff which they did last season with Trae Young, coming up big in huge moments.
Players like John Collins, Bogdan Bogdanovic, DeAndre Hunter, and Kevin Huerter are starting to shine and they will be very important for their run. After the all-star break, they will hope to get things together and pull up many huge results together.
