Ben Simmons believes that the Brooklyn Nets can still be the best in the league despite their struggling start with a 1-5 record.
The Brooklyn Nets have not started their season in the best of ways. After an off-season that saw the owner Joe Tsai and the franchise hierarchy go loggerheads with star player Kevin Durant after the latter handed in a trade request, they initially found middle ground with Durant changing his mind to play out the season with the Nets. However, it has not been a great start to their season.
The Nets started their season with a loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, but won their first game of the season in the next game against the Toronto Raptors. However, they followed that up with four consecutive defeats to the Memphis Grizzlies, the Milwaukee Bucks, the Dallas Mavericks and most recently the Indiana Pacers – meaning they have got on to an underwhelming 1-5 start.
While most of their fans and supporters have lost motivation for a title challenge after such an underwhelming start, Nets star Ben Simmons still thinks that the Nets can challenge for the title after even their start. The underfire Nets star has come out and said that the Brooklyn Nets can still be the best in the league and win the Championship despite their 1-5 start to the season.
What did Ben Simmons have to say about the Nets’ possible title challenge?
Simmons came out and said that even despite their 1-5 start to the season, the Nets can turn it around and be the best in the league.
Speaking to the press after their 116-125 loss to the Indiana Pacers at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Simmons said that the Nets can be the best in the league despite their 1-5 start. When asked if the team believes that they can turn their losing streak around, Simmons said that the team does believe that the Nets can turn their form around to be the best in the league.
“For sure, yeah, f*** yeah. I believe it. I believe we can be the best team in the NBA.” When asked about the locker room atmosphere following the loss, Simmons said: “It was honest. We had a conversation about stuff. That’s what winning teams do, hold each other accountable.”
