Brooklyn Nets have been massively shorthanded ever since Kevin Durant has been sidelined due to an MCL sprain in his right knee. Just when they needed Ben Simmons to take up a bigger role alongside Kyrie Irving, the Australian playmaker has landed himself in more misery.
After featuring in the first half vs. Detroit Pistons, Ben Simmons made his way to the sidelines after having a sore knee. That’s not all, the 3-time All-Star couldn’t even support his teammates on the scoring end in this game as well. One of his plays, wherein he air-balled an easy sky hook has even gone viral.
While the Pistons went on to beat the Brooklyn Nets to stretch their losing streak to 2, Simmons’ viral sky hook video showcases just how bad he has been for Jacque Vaughn’s unit, especially when KD is out.
The marquee defender for Brooklyn Nets has already missed 11 games in the 2022-23 season because of different injuries, and now he has just added to that list. Playing on the second night of a back-to-back, the 26-year-old struggled to make an impact during 20 minutes of action on Thursday night, going 0-for-3 from the field, with seven assists, and one rebound. This is not all Simmons has three turnovers registered against his name as well.
Ever since the catastrophic scene with the Philadelphia 76ers in the playoffs, this DPOY candidate hasn’t been able to strive back at his best form. Should he be an option to trade for the Nets, before the deadline? Do let us know in the comments down below.
