With Kevin Durant already out, Australian playmaker Ben Simmons is all set to join him on the bench as he has been ruled out of the showdown against the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday at the Barclays Center. Initially, the three-time All-Star was listed as questionable in the injury list but now, hours before the game, Simmons has been ruled out.
Ben Simmons and Kevin Durant will not be the only ones for the Brooklyn Nets to sit out in this contest, in which LeBron James and Anthony Davis will also take no part. T.J. Warren is another star for the Nets who will not be playing on Monday.
Talking in particular about Ben Simmons, he has been ruled out due to left knee soreness for the spoken-off contest.
The former No. 1 pick in the NBA is averaging 7.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.6 blocks across 37 appearances this 2022-23 NBA season, in 32 starts. Safe to say, the 26-year-old has never been a great scorer in the NBA, but he is struggling more than usual to put the ball in the net in 2022-23.
Moreover, given that the Lakers are a team that likes to score points in and around the paint, Simmons could’ve come in handy to protect the rim.
