Ben Simmons is set for a big return to Philadelphia after he scored 22 points in the Brooklyn Nets against the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Brooklyn Nets defeated the Memphis Grizzlies in their latest contest at the Barclays Center on Sunday night. Kevin Durant and Ben Simmons starred for the hosts with 26 and 22 points respectively to help the Nets defeat the Grizzlies to secure their second win on the bounce – and set up some nice momentum before they travel to the Philadelphia 76ers for their next game.
The Brooklyn Nets constructed a proper turnaround as they turned a first half deficit around to win the game against the Memphis Grizzlies. Even though it was the Grizzlies who had the upper hand having won the first two quarters, the Nets turned it around in the third and fourth quarters at the Barclays Center to secure what was an important win in their season.
Apart from their talisman Kevin Durant who scored a team high 26 points, Ben Simmons played an important role in securing the result for the Nets. The forward-guard who has had a disappointing season for the Nets so far this season came up with a clutch performance as he racked up 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and also made 11 of his 13 attempted field goals.
Simmons’ return to form is timely for the Nets as well as himself, as the Nets will next travel down to Philadelphia to face his former team. Speaking to the press following the win, Simmons said: “I’m excited to go play…I’m looking forward to heading down there and getting a win.”
The Nets-Sixers game on Tuesday will feature Ben Simmons returning to his former side.
Simmons was traded to the Sixers earlier this year for James Harden, as the 2018 MVP was traded in by the Nets to join the pairing of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. The forward-guard did not play in his last season for the Sixers in the wake of a trade demand centered around hurt feelings coming off last season’s playoff loss.
Simmons averaged 15.9 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.7 assists over four seasons with Philadelphia, which drafted him out of Louisiana State University, where he played only one season of college basketball.
