Kevin Durant initially was sidelined for a couple of weeks when he sustained an ankle sprain against the Miami Heat on January 8, 2022. Now, as Jacque Vaughn’s team came out victorious against the Golden State Warriors on Monday Night, the team is expecting an injury update.
Durant’s injury should get more clarity at Tuesday’s practice as he has been in his rehab process. Given that Durant could potentially be back before the All-Star break, Jacque Vaughn gave an honest insight about his star player coming back on the court.
“Yeah, I really kind of said in two weeks let me know something,” Vaughn said. “So besides that, haven’t asked for update and I’m looking forward to the two-week update.”
Kevin Durant’s injury update
To those who are unaware, when Durant was injured last season on January 15, his team went on register a 10+ game losing streak, falling from the playoffs berths to the Play-In Tournament berth. In totality, the Brooklyn Nets went 5-16 in that stretch of 21 games in the latter half of the regular season.
That being said, with Durant potentially making a way to return to the court, the Nets could become one of the most feared teams in the league. If Vaughn’s side can figure out a way to win that game, it’ll create some true momentum and positive growth within the locker room without former MVP, Kevin Durant. Even if they don’t find a way to win, their next opponent is the Detroit Pistons, a team that Brooklyn should be overwhelmingly favored to defeat.
