Cam Thomas makes NBA history with another 40-point game

Cam Thomas carved his name into NBA history with yet another 40-point game as he put on a show against the Phoenix Suns.

The Brooklyn Nets went up against the Phoenix Suns at the Barclays Center on Tuesday night looking for a win, however, they were left disappointed as it was yet another home loss for the struggling outfit who were defeated 116-112 by the Suns. While DeAndre Ayton starred for the Suns, it was another incredible performance by Cam Thomas who continued his hot streak of form.

Thomas – who only found his way into the starting line-up for the Nets courtesy of Kevin Durant’s injury and Kyrie Irving’s absence – made himself a commodity in the NBA with two back-to-back 40-point appearances in his last two games. While Thomas only trailed LeBron James as the youngest to achieve the feat, he took it another step further in his next game.

The Brooklyn Nets guard continued his scoring streak with a 43-point haul in a 116-112 loss to the Phoenix Suns. The effort was his third straight with 40-plus points after dropping 44 against the Washington Wizards on Saturday and 47 against the Los Angeles Clippers Monday night. And as it turns out, Thomas has created history and carved his own niche in the record books.

His performance made Thomas the youngest player in NBA history to score 40-plus points in three straight games. At 21 years and 117 days old, he is the only Nets player to achieve the feat since the team joined the NBA. It is actually quite a feat in hindsight, as the Nets is a franchise that recently featured both Kyrie Irving and James Harden and still boasts Kevin Durant.

With the likes of Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith set to join the Nets soon, one could expect a decrease in Thomas’ game time – however, if he does continue to this kind of form, it will be very hard for the newly recruited guards to find a way into the starting line-up for the Nets.
