Philadelphia 76ers court-side fans troubled Carmelo Anthony during the game, after ejection he explains the words he used that shackled Melo
Los Angeles Lakers‘ visit to Wells Fargo Center was not a pleasing one for Carmelo Anthony. He scored just 9 points shooting 4-11 from the field. On top of that, some courtside fans kept on bugging him in the 4th quarter. The matter got worse when Melo tried to confront the fan which ended in the fan’s ejection from the arena.
The Lakers lost the game but Melo had a small victory of his own against those troublesome fans. Mike Murphy, the 76ers season ticket holder was in Angelo Cataldi and the morning team show where he narrated the complete incident.
Murphy said, “He comes down the court; we were blowing out the game. I say to him, you are a little boy. Let him shoot. Let him shoot’. He looked at me. He smiles.” The fan added that he kept the ‘little boy’ chant going whenever Melo was at his end of the court, and suddenly Lakers player lost his cool, surprising the fan.
In the Post-game interview, Melo explained his side of the story, “Some things were said. Unacceptable. I’m cool with fans heckling, fans talking trash, cheering for their team, booing the other team. I’m all for that. But when you cross certain lines, as a man…. That’s what you are going to get”
Both the individuals had their perspective of the situation but Melo made a good point about “crossing line”. NBA has strict rules for players and fans too about on-court behaviour.
Carmelo Anthony and Other Lakers players facing opponent fans
While Los Angeles Lakers is a huge franchise in the NBA, other franchise fans just love to see them lose, and play their part by distracting them during games. “Killing the giant” of the game is their motto with an interest of getting a win for their team.
Western Conference All-star Captain LeBron James also had the same incidence, where quick action was taken again and the fans were ejected. Russell Westbrook is also not new to fans heckling and trolling, had to face fans’ chants and trash-talking in his Lakers days.
But it is ideal to take control of the game rather than confront booing fans, as a win or great performance can silence the opposition team and fans simultaneously. Lakers will continue their road trip, as they face Charlotte Hornets on Friday night.
