Chris Broussard reflects on Kyrie Irving. For the first time in four years, Kyrie Irving is looking set with his Brooklyn Nets teammates as they registered their first ever 12-game winning streak.
Currently playing in the last year of his current contract, many feel that the recent controversies might’ve haunted the chances of a max extension for the 2016 NBA Champion. So, what could be the possible outcome for the most skilled guard in the NBA after the end of the 2022-23 NBA Season.
Perhaps this is just why Chris Broussard wanted to discuss Kyrie Irving’s contract on the latest episode of ‘The Odd Couple.’ But could this heroic leadership by Irving coming only because he is currently in his last year with the Nets?
Take a look at what Broussard stated, “I do think a lot of front office people and owners, for that matter, will say, ‘It’s contract year. He lost his Nike deal. He knew he had to be in his best behavior. But if I give him a four-year contract, does it go back?”
Chris Broussard, the veteran sports media personality added, “Hopefully, there’s no type of vaccination situation we have to deal with again. Hopefully, there’s nothing like the Jewish situation he was in early in the year, but Kyrie had issues before that.”
For those who are not aware – let us discuss the basics. The 30-year-old PG opted into the final year of his contract. Contract worth $36.9 million in the offseason as he didn’t have a ton of options. However, there were reports of him reuniting with LeBron in Hollywood but fortunately for the Nets, those negotiations didn’t fall in place.
Broussard concluded, “Taking a week off here and there. Injuries, in Boston there were issues leadership-wise and he got tired playing with LeBron. Man, I’d have a hard time giving him a four-year deal.”
