The Pelicans took full benefit of their home-court advantage and managed to oust the Chris Paul-led Suns.

The promised kid, Zion Williamson had a massive night against the Suns. He ended the night with 35 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists in 37 minutes.

Jose Alvarado chipped in with 20 points, 2 assists, and 1 rebound. Another star for the Pelicans, CJ McCollum out in 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists.

On the other hand, the Phoenix Suns played with their complete line-up, having all their star players on the team. They still could not edge past the Pelicans.

Chris Paul finished the game with 24 points, 7 assists, and 3 rebounds. Suns’ big man Deandre Ayton put up 25 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, and had 2 assists. Devin Booker had an off game, scoring just 14 points, dishing 7 assists, and grabbing 2 rebounds.

By the end of the game, the Pelicans had a good lead in their hand. They were leading by nine points with under 10 seconds left on the clock.

Normally, under circumstances where a team is winning by a good margin, the winning team dribbles out the clock. But, no, the Pelicans decided to look the other way.

Zion Williamson hits a monstrous 360 dunk, upsetting the Phoenix Suns and Chris Paul

In the dying seconds of the fourth quarter, Zion Williamson decides to close out the game with a monstrous 360 dunk. And just as he decided, Williamson executed his dunk.

The dunk did not sit well with the Phoenix Suns. Zion violated the unwritten rule of basketball and the Suns were not easy with it.

When Zion went for the dunk, you can hear in the video that even Pelicans broadcaster and former NBA guard Antonio Daniels saying, “No, no, no!”

It looked like Antonio Daniels knew that an altercation was incoming. And surely it came just as the game ended.

Just as the buzzer rang, Suns guard Chris Paul and Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado seemed to enter into a shouting/shoving match, and then a whole lot more shouting and shoving went on, but no punches or significant blows were thrown.

The next match-up between the Phoenix Suns and New Orleans Pelicans will be worth the wait. Suns will take on the Pelicans on Sunday at the same Smoothie King Center.
