CJ Miles’ 10 day contract with Celtics explained

Find out everything you need to know about CJ Miles’ 10-day contract with the NBA team Boston Celtics

It has been revealed by the Boston Celtics that they have signed NBA veteran CJ Miles on a 10-day contract. The reason for opting for the 15-season veteran stemmed from the fact that the Celtics are currently down seven player due to the NBA’s health and safety protocols which has left them no choice but to sign Miles.

The 10-day contract is under hardship exemptions which allows the team to add any player to the roster without exceeding the roster limit and salary cap. The contract is basically a temporary deal that will allow the team to compensate for the players who have been sidelined due to the protocols.

Although, the contract is only for 10-days, it doesn’t mean that the team can’t renew Miles’ contract. If the Celtics wish to keep him further, they will need to sign him again and again to 10-day contracts until the end of the season. Beyond that, he can officially become a part of their roster for the next season after signing a permanent contract. However, chances of him getting a permanent deal look to be very slim at the moment.

Apart from Miles, the Celtics also signed Justin Jackson under hardship exemptions. The whole NBA has been hit with a huge setback because of the Covid-19. The league is still trying to come up with more effective and efficient protocols for the players in an attempt to ensure their overall safety.
