Doc Rivers have turned the Philadelphia 76ers from a dependant team to an unstoppable unit. While Joel Embiid is the undoubted leader of this side, with James Harden being the No. 2 scoring option – the Sixers have started to showcase their true caliber despite the absence of their marquee scorers. As per Kendrick Perkins, the credit is due for Rivers.
Doc Rivers have been criticized in the past for not being able to coach his star-studded teams in the playoff stages, yet the Philadelphia 76ers have looked like a completely different and new side since the beginning of the 2022-23 season. And their sot recent win against the Sacramento Kings indicates just the same.
Given that all the players for the Sixers are fit this season, who knows what Doc Rivers pull out of his hat with this team? The likes of Tyrese Maxey, Tobias Harris, and De’Anthony Melton among other stars seemed to have perfectly set in their roles as Doc Rivers’ side just inches away behind Boston Celtics to seal the Eastern Conference numero uno-spot.
Acknowledging the growth of this Eastern Conference side, Perkins applauded the effort of Doc River by saying, “As expected the Eagles beat the hell outta the Giants, and their Super Bowl hopes are looking very promising… but Doc Rivers is coaching his a** right now and the 76ers grabbed a nice road win tonight against the Kings with no Embiid or Harden!!!! Carry the hell on…”
That being said, this year’s Eastern Conference is top-heavy and the Conference Semifinals and Finals will be grueling slogs against top teams, so Doc Rivers and Philadelphia need to ensure with the best possible opponents’ lineup.
