The seventh annual Mavs Ball at the American Airlines Centre saw a whopping $1.5 million raised by the Dallas Mavericks towards the Mavs foundation
After nearly two years, hundreds of attendees laughed, danced, and celebrated by uniting as a group at the seventh annual Mavs Ball. The star-studded event featured the entire Dallas Mavericks team, coaching staff, franchise legends, team executives and some of the NBA outfit’s most ardent fans.
Earlier this season, the Mavs Foundation announced plans to allocate a total of $1 million in grant funds to empower local children, women and families in need. By raising $1.5 million on Friday night, the Mavs Foundation and board members at the franchise were incredibly they were able to surpass their target.
The glamorous night had plenty of highlights with Mavs coach Jason Kidd bidding $90,000 to win a five-day trip to Luka Doncic’s native Slovenia. He also managed to get himself a bottle of wine from the oldest vineyard in the world.
Kidd later revealed the top auction prize of the night when he gave someone a chance to bring two teams of five to the Mavs practice facility for one-on-one coaching and training. The mouthwatering prize sold for a total of $120,000.
Dallas talisman Doncic and teammate Spencer Dinwiddie won a state fair visit with teammate Boban Marjanovic for $80,000.
Mavs PF Dorian Finney-Smith flaunted his vocal skills with a rendition of “Let It Go” onstage. Iconic female music trio En Vogue also wowed the crowd with an epic performance as confetti rained down on the venue. A bowling prize with Dwight Powell and Maxi Kleber also brought plenty of laughs to the audience.
Over the past few years, the Mavs Foundation has been able to raise $5 million for COVID-19 relief, $1.3 million in response to the last year’s winter storm, and $8 million in grants for women, children, and families all throughout the North Texas area.
