Danilo Gallinari, a free-agent forward, has signed a two-year, $13.3 million contract with the Boston Celtics after clearing waivers. Gallinari’s contract will be completely guaranteed and feature a player option for the second year, according to his representative.

Danilo Gallinari will join former Pacers guard Malcolm Brogdon on the Celtics bench last season. Gallinari was acquired by the Spurs in the Hawks-Spurs trade that also included All-Star guard Dejounte Murray.

For the Hawks, last season, Gallinari, 33, averaged 11.7 points on 38 percent 3-point shooting. He has averaged 15.6 points and 4.8 rebounds over the course of 13 NBA seasons.

Danilo Gallinari will add the quality to the Boston Celtics bench

Throughout his career with the Hawks, Danilo came off the bench and made a good impact. He will be required to do the same on his new team. Last season the Celtics lacked depth, and they have fixed it this offseason.

Danilo along with Brogdon is a great acquisition by the Celtics who made the NBA Finals last season. They are once again among the favorites to win it all, and hopefully, they’ll be able to get the job done this year.
