There is no surprise that Darvin Ham is looking for some frontcourt players who can keep his ship steady when injuries haunt his Purple and Gold side. For DeMarcus Cousins and Meyers Leonards were even seen working out at the team’s facility as Ham tries to push his team into the Top 6 Western Conference berths.
On Friday when fans came to know about four-time All-Star DeMar Cousins and Meyers Leonard trying their hand out to be a part of this squad, Darvin Ham was bound to ask for it. So, the Los Angeles Lakers coach wasted no time in talking about it, although he was firm in not revealing any of the team’s plans in advance.
“It went great,” Ham said. “We worked out Meyers Leonard and DeMarcus Cousins. They both looked great. Whether or not we are able to do something with them is a different story. We’re constantly trying to kick the tires on different scenarios, but the first order of business is to get our guys healthy. But definitely, we appreciate them for coming in. They both looked great.”
As the first-year coach mentioned, there is a possibility that the LA Lakers might not opt for any of these two. The idea was to keep players ready if there are more injuries to follow in Darvin Ham’s side. Moreover, Darvin did not name any player, but it is clear that the first man in mind has to be Anthony Davis.
Los Angeles Lakers, who are 19-23 after their loss against Dallas Mavericks, can make all the moves they want, but at the end of the day, their success will rely heavily on AD’s return to action.
