Darvin Ham has had a slow start to his coaching career in Hollywood as he has only managed to ensure a 20-25 record for the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2022-23 season. However, this was a team that lost all confidence yet is just 6 wins short of the 3rd seed in the Western Conference. Citing this Ham revealed how the Lakers’ owner felt about him being at the helm.
It comes to be known that Jeanie Buss is indeed pleased with the job Darvin Ham has been doing despite the Lakers having to drop more than 10 close games.
As per the New York Times, “She gave me a big hug and told me: ‘Hang in there, you’re doing a phenomenal job and things are going to get right. We’re going to start winning consistently, but Darvin, we’re totally happy with what you’re doing and you and your staff are doing an excellent job.’ It was cool. It was really thoughtful.”
The Los Angeles Lakers have looked unpredictable under Darvin Ham’s rein. They have competed well against the top teams around the league but haven’t been consistent. LA has struggled in crunch situations, especially over the past few games yet it is expected that Anthony Davis’ return could make this unit amongst the most underrated units if they were to progress into the playoffs.
Moreover, Ham has got the best out of Russell Westbrook to an extent that there were MVP chants for Brodie in this season at Crypto.com Arena. But will he be able to turn things around as the Lakers stand 20-25? Remains to be seen.
