DeMar DeRozan was all praise for Giannis Antetokounmpo as he showered applause on the Milwaukee Bucks superstar for becoming one of the best players in the world.
Chicago Bulls superstar DeMar DeRozan was all praise for Giannis Antetokounmpo as he provided excellent insight into the Milwaukee Bucks star’s development from a rookie to a world-class basketball player. According to DeRozan who has played against Giannis multiple times in the Eastern Conference, Giannis’ dedication and desire to win shaped him into the player he is.
According to the 33-year-old, the Greek Freak was not always the physical specimen he is now known for. DeRozan was also honest enough to say that Giannis did not know how to play basketball, but it was his innate desire to succeed and win that shaped him into the superstar we know now – an NBA Championship winner, a two-time MVP as well as a Finals MVP.
What did DeRozan have to say about Giannis’ development?
DeRozan had the highest praise to shower on Giannis when asked about his development.
“Being in the East for so long before I went to San Antonio, playing against Giannis and seeing the development to where he is now, it’s incredible. It’s remarkable, the effort that you see he put in to want to be great. It’s something that as a basketball fan and spectator, I look at a guy like Giannis, or if I’m someone else who’s trying to make it, let me see how dedicated he was.”
DeRozan added: “Because when he first came to the league, he was just a skinny kid. You could push him around, didn’t know how to play basketball. But there was something there – but a lot of people have something there. It don’t necessarily mean they find it – but for him, you could see the dedication in how bad he wanted it. Even to this day, you could see how bad he wants it.”
DeRozan completed his answer by saying: “You could see it physically, his demeanor. When he goes out there on the court, you could see he’s a f****** killer. Every time. And as a basketball fan, you gotta respect that. Being able to compete against him, this year, you could see why he is the MVP – why he is one of the best players in the world without a doubt.”
