Recently, DeMar DeRozan became the first Chicago Bulls player since Michael Jordan to score 40+ points in Boston. The last time that Jordan did it was in a 41-point performance against the Celtics in 1991. This makes DeRozan the first one to achieve this feat in more than 30 years.
After joining the Chicago Bulls in 2021 through a sign-and-trade, DeRozan has revived his career. During the 2021-22 NBA season DeRozan averaged 27.9 points, 4.9 assists and 5.2 rebounds for the season. In addition to this, he guided the Chicago Bulls to a 6th place finish in the Eastern Conference.
Following the end of the 2021-22 regular season, DeMar DeRozan was named to the All-NBA Second Team. Both DeRozan and the Bulls have benefitted from the trade. DeRozan has once again become a All-NBA level player and the Bulls are a playoff team.
DeRozan has started the 2022-23 NBA season very well and looks set to have another great season. Through 10 games, DeRozan is averaging 25.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 4.3 assists for the Chicago Bulls.
DeMar DeRozan has started the season looking in great form. But the Chicago Bulls currently own a win-loss record of 5-5 and have had a rocky start to the season. The Chicago Bulls would at least have to be a playoff team for DeRozan to make an All-NBA team.
In normal circumstances that may not have been necessary, but this season the Eastern conference is overflowing with talent. There will be more competition at DeRozan’s position and there are many good teams in the East this year. DeRozan will be fun to watch over the year and will definitely keep the Bulls in the playoff conversation.
