DeMar DeRozan Injury: Why is the Bulls star ruled out against Wizards?

Published by

When DeMar DeRozan left midway on Monday against the Boston Celtics with a quad strain and eventually did not return, fans were eager to know if the marquee scorer of the Bulls will return to the court for their next game on Wednesday against the Washington Wizards. However, the answer is No! DeMar has officially been ruled out of the same contest as per K.C. Johnson.

DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine

With DeMar’s previous health status being questionable, there was still some optimism around the return of the 5-time All-Star. That being said, this miss on Wednesday will be the first game DeMar DeRozan will be sitting out for the Chicago Bulls in the 2021-22 season, as he previously featured in all 41.

Moreover, DeRozan could potentially not be the only player missing from the lineup of Billy Donovan’s unit on Wednesday. The team has listed defensive-minded combo guard and veteran Alex Caruso (right ankle sprain) as probable to play.

DeMar DeRozan Injury: How will the Bulls cope without their main man?

The only way Chicago Bulls can beat the Washington Wizards on Wednesday is if Zach LaVine drops a big game night. He surely has the potential of doing so as even dropped 15 of his 27 points on Monday, against the Boston Celtics, in the fourth quarter without DeMar.

The 33-year-old, 3-time All-NBA team star is in his 14th year in the NBA and second as a member of the Bulls. DeMar DeRozan is averaging 26.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.5 blocks across 41 appearances thus far.

Now looking at his downside, DeMar DeRozan’s three-point percentage this season has dipped to around his career average. To be precise, the 33-year-old veteran is currently converting 27.1% of his long-range attempts and is a career 28.7% shooter from distance.
