Has Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant get a 50 game suspension for his gun offence?
Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies has made a reputation for himself to be one of the brightest young stars in the league. However, despite his promise on the court and his ever-growing reputation as one of the young faces of the NBA, Morant’s career has been dealt with a blow after a few allegations about him recently saw the light of day – as well as after a gun offence.
In a string of incidents dating from last summer, Morant and people close to him have been accused of threatening and even violent behavior. Last summer, a member of Morant’s group shoved the head of a security of a Memphis mall in the head. Four days later, Morant punched a teenage boy in the head during a basketball game at Morant’s house, the boy told police.
While these allegations found Morant under public scrutiny with fans asking if he will be suspended, Morant made it even tougher on himself after he posed with a gun on an Instagram live stream only days after the aforementioned allegations surfaced. Morant posing with the firearm in a nightclub days after the allegations surfaced put him in even more danger.
Has Ja Morant been suspended since?
It turns out, Morant has indeed been suspended by the Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies have suspended Morant for at least two games as the NBA investigates the video shared on the point guard’s Instagram live, where he flashed what appeared to be a gun at a nightclub. Morant’s Twitter and Instagram accounts have since been deactivated, and he has issued an apology saying he takes “full responsibility.”
Questions are also being raised on the athlete’s off-court conduct, including a recent incident that is said to be part of a league investigation. It remains to be seen what the investigations amount to, as it is certain that Morant will not get off easy if indeed he is found guilty of the charges brought against him.
