James Harden seems to have finally found his groove as a playmaker with the Philadelphia 76ers. To justify this same case – know just how well the former MVP played against the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday as the team from Wells Fargo Center turned a first-half 20-point deficit to win 119-114.
However, did James Harden record the most assists in an NBA game after dropping 21 assists in this particular game? The answer is no. Orlando Magic’s veteran Scott Skiles dropped 30 assists whilst 1990, which till dates stands as the numero uno position in the list of most assists in a single NBA game by an individual. Although John Stockton has been derived as the assist-king in NBA, Harden is far from that standard. Interestingly, his feat of 21 assists hasn’t made him rank in the Top 20 list of all-time assists in a single game.
That being said, the Beard led the Philadelphia 76ers to their 19th win of the season, taking them to the 5th seed in the Eastern Conference, just 2 wins behind Brooklyn Nets.
What next for James Harden, Philadelphia 76ers?
11 out of the mentioned 21 assists were given by Harden to his main-man, Embiid. This feat managed to rank them alongside DeMarcus Cousins-Rajon Rondo and Russell Westbrook-Paul George, becoming only the third pair in 25 seasons to have one player go for 40 points and another go for 20 assists.
This isn’t the first time we have seen an emphatic assist-performance from James Harden. The 10x All-Star previously had a career-best assists tally of 17, which we had interestingly achieved 10 times.
As a result of which, the 33-year-old guard’s 21 assists feat has made his stand alongside Wilt Chamberlain (1968) and Maurice Cheeks (1982).
