LeBron James delighted at Joe Biden’s alleged victory in the presidential election

LeBron James, an NBA player and one of President Donald Trump’s most vocal adversaries in the sports world, posted on social media on Saturday to congratulate Joe Biden on his expected victory and to announce that he will visit the White House to celebrate the Los Angeles Lakers’ title.

James shared a photo that had been photoshopped showing him tackling Golden State Warriors player Andre Iguodala in the 2016 NBA Finals. Trump is depicted as Iguodala in the image, with Biden’s head overlaid on James’ body in what appears to be a reference to Biden’s obstruction of Trump’s bid to become the President for the second term.

Following many days of uncertainty after Election Day, Biden was declared the presumptive leader of his home state of Pennsylvania, giving him the additional 270 votes needed to win the presidency.

Why was LeBron James so excited about Joe Biden’s victory?

James, who this past season helped the Lakers win their fourth NBA championship, has used his position to criticise Trump and the nation’s social justice problems. After the president declined to extend the Warriors’ invitation to visit the White House in 2017, James referred to Trump as a “bum.”

Trump criticised the NBA’s decision to resume play after the epidemic had ended the league’s season. In response to the August assassination of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin, players protested the playoffs and kneeled during the national anthem once the season resumed.

Lebron James and the other members of the Lakers team wore Make America Great Again caps in August as well, but with a different message to draw attention to problems with racial justice and police brutality. The hats are just one of several campaigns to raise awareness of the tragedy of Taylor, 26, who was shot and killed by police in her residence in Louisville back in March.
