LeBron James chose not to go to college and entered the NBA straight out of High School
Did LeBron James go to college? This is a question that many fans often ask themselves. The answer is no, LeBron did not go to college. LeBron decided to enter the 2003 NBA Draft and forego college completely. In the 2003 NBA Draft, LeBron James was selected as the Number 1 pick by his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers.
The reason LeBron didn’t go to college was that it would not have benefited him or his mother at all. If LeBron had gone to college, the college would’ve benefitted from LeBron’s image but he wouldn’t have made any money.
This pushed James to declare for the 2003 NBA Draft and the rest is history. Throughout his long NBA career, LeBron has achieved what most NBA players can only dream of achieving. James is a 4-time NBA Champion, 4-time NBA Finals MVP and 18-time NBA All-Star.
If LeBron had gone to college where would he have gone?
James actually answered this question on The Bird and Taurasi Show for the NCAA women’s national championship game. LeBron told the world what team he would have played for had he gone to college. However, as a well-known Ohio State University fan, he was given the stipulation that he couldn’t pick them.
LeBron took a few seconds to think about the question before answering. James eventually said that it’d either be the University of North Carolina or Duke University. LeBron has personal connections to both UNC and Duke. As a kid, he grew up idolizing Michael Jordan who played college basketball at UNC.
James has played under Coach Mike Krzyzewski for Team USA multiple times. Coach Krzyzewski is the newly retired former Head Coach for the Duke University basketball team. All-in-all, it would’ve been interesting to see LeBron play in college.
