A tweet taking the Internet by storm? It sounds quite normal. But a fake tweet by a celebrity that goes viral – it is a new bar.
Recently, an allegedly fake tweet involving LeBron James, Lil Dicky, and Colin Kaepernick resurfaced on social media and the netizens wanted answers about it. The pertinent question was – is the tweet fake or real?
The infamous tweet of LeBron James, Lil Dicky, and Colin Kaepernick resurfaced on the Internet on October 15, 2021.
In that viral tweet, one can see the picture of rapper Lil Dicky, with a quote stating, ‘Believe in something…. even if it means sacrificing everything.’
The tweet directly points to the fact that LeBron James thought that the picture in the tweet is that of Colin Kaepernick, the former NFL quarterback.
With the photo and quote, LeBron tweeted: ‘Y’all didn’t listen to this man, but now the whole world is listening.’
In reply to the tweet, Colin Kaepernick responded to LeBron by saying, ‘Thanks Bron. I’m pretty sure that’s lil Dicky, but I hear you bruh.’
The controversy around Colin Kaepernick happened way back in 2016. During the national anthem at the start of an NFL game, Kaepernick took a knee to protest peacefully against police brutality and racial inequality in the United States. At that time, Kaepernick was playing for the San Francisco 49ers.
The taking of knee by Kaepernick did not garner positive reactions and many felt offended and demanded against him.
The negative reactions ultimately made Kaepernick pay. Eventually, Kaepernick was ousted from the NFL. Until this day, Kaepernick is not re-signed by any NFL team, despite of him being in top shape and having the talent to carry a team.
Kaepernick now works as a civil activist but now many people have realized that NFL has unfairly blacklisted him. It has now been six years since Kaepernick has played any NFL game.
Interestingly, the tweet is fake. The fake tweet was originally posted on social media in 2020. The image featuring LeBron James, Kaepernick, and Lil Dicky was tweeted on 19 June, 2020.
