Shaquille O’Neal is widely regarded as one of the best players to ever set foot on a basketball court, and is often considered to be in the conversation for the greatest center in NBA history.
Other than the legendary basketball career that saw him win four NBA Championships over a career spanning nearly two decades, Shaq is also known as an entrepreneur with shares in many top brands and retail chains and for being a comedian but it is his stint as a musician that often goes under the radar while talking about his many talents.
For his career as a musician, Shaq goes under the moniker of “DJ Diesel” and has often jockeyed many parties of his own.
Having released multiple full studio hip-hop albums while at the prime of his NBA career in the 1990s, Shaq is no stranger to the music industry and years after his retirement from basketball, Shaq is now on a career as a DJ under the name “DJ Diesel.”
“DJ Diesel” most recently completed a live set at his “Shaq’s Fun House” event in Los Angeles during the Super Bowl LVI weekend.
Being a DJ is a true passion for O’Neal, as he actually loses money whenever he performs because of the different costs involved in the event.
As reports would have it, the DJ gimmick is not something new for Shaq.
Shaq began dabbling in DJ-ing since he was a teenager, and has been spinning records all across his celebrated NBA career.
Initially playing records for himself or for his friends, Shaq expanded his horizons by venturing out to night clubs after hanging up his boots in 2011.
Since then, Shaq has performed in festivals such as Tomorrow world and Lollapalooza, the former Los Angeles Lakers center has also spoken about how no music is off-limits for him.
Shaq only chooses his music after seeing the crowd he has to cater to, and his showmanship and his versatility ensures his audience has a gala time just like they did watching him play.
