Doc Rivers has shared a gloomy outlook on the Philadelphia 76ers future as they start the season 0-3
The Philadelphia 76ers own a win-loss record of 0-3 and are off to a bad start to the NBA season. Head Coach Doc Rivers has added to the negativity by sharing his gloomy outlook. In a post-game interview after their loss against the San Antonio Spurs, Rivers said the 76ers aren’t ready to win.
This follows a bad start to the season and a team that does not look well-drilled. The offense has looked good for the 76ers but the defensive schemes have lacked clarity and adjustability.
Rivers have come out with this statement when his job is in serious jeopardy. Fans and analysts alike are calling for him to be fired after repeated failure in the playoffs. James Harden and Joel Embiid have looked good offensively but the supporting cast isn’t looking good.
Besides this, the results have been poor. Although losses against the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks are justified, the loss against the San Antonio Spurs is not. The Spurs are likely to miss the playoffs with many predicting them to have the worst record this season.
The 76ers have a great squad built around Harden and Embiid that is playoff ready. If results do not improve soon, the Philadelphia 76ers are likely to fire Doc Rivers. The 76ers are committed to winning with Embiid in the middle of his prime and Harden at the end of his prime.
Doc Rivers is a fantastic coach and will most likely turn the situation around. But the real test will be during the playoffs. Rivers have had regular season success but has choked in the playoffs regularly.
This season’s playoffs will probably be a deciding factor in River’s future. If the 76ers do not have some playoff success, they may fire Rivers at the end of this season.
