Donovan Mitchell is one of the best players in the NBA right now, but how much is the Spider’s salary at the Cleveland Cavaliers?
Donovan Mitchell is in his own right, one of the best players in the NBA at the moment. The Cleveland Cavaliers superstar has had an incredible start to his first season at the franchise after securing a trade from the Utah Jazz in the off-season and is quickly carving a niche for himself as one of the best players – an early and genuine contender for the Most Valuable Player award.
Mitchell was almost set to join the New York Knicks on a trade deal with the Jazz this off-season, however, the Knicks could not reach a deal with the Jazz. It was right then when the Cavaliers swooped in, and as per General Manager Justin Zanik, came up with an offer that was good enough for the Jazz to part ways with one of their most important players in Mitchell.
The trade to the Cavaliers also came with a substantial pay rise for Mitchell, who signed a contract that will see him earn $30,351,780 for the 2022/23 season. Mitchell’s entire package at the Cavaliers will see him earn an estimated total of $134,896,800 until the 2025/26 season – making him one of the highest-paid players in the league at the moment.
Even though Mitchell is the Cavaliers’ highest-paid player, he can claim that he deserves it courtesy of the incredible performances that he has put in since the start of the season.
How has Donovan Mitchell been for the Cavaliers this season?
Mitchell has been in sensational form for the Cavaliers this season.
The 26-year-old guard has averaged 31.22 points, 4.11 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game in his nine appearances this season, and has been his franchise’s key player, Mitchell helped the Cavaliers go on an eight-game winning streak that only ended in their latest defeat to the Los Angeles Clippers, but they are still in a good position on the standings with an 8-2 record.
Mitchell will certainly hope to continue his season in this kind of form, as he aims to help the Cavaliers reach the Play-Offs this season.
