Draymond Green might be passed his peak but still possesses the capability to guard the perimeter as well as the interior effectively. Having been phenomenal for Steve Kerr’s newly looking side in the last season, the former DPOY held himself accountable for his team’s struggles in the 2022-23 season.
Although the Warriors are hanging by a thread at the 6th seed in the Western Conference standings, courtesy of a 22-22 record, the team just doesn’t seem to be a combined unit on the floor like before. This led to Green coming forward to make some serious claims.
Draymond Green admitted that the “shortcomings” are his fault, noting that the 32-year-old hasn’t been the leader that he is accustomed to being. He said, “I think a lot of our shortcomings this year is my fault… I have not been the leader that I am, and that I need to be for this team… The reason that I have not been that leader is also my fault… we all know with the young Wolverine brother JP… I’ve kind of had to walk a fine line of not being Draymond. When I’m not really being myself that’s not the best thing for this team. Where we’ve struggled is accountability… on the defensive end… on the offensive end. That’s my role on this team and I fell short in that area.”
From being involved in a catastrophic fight with young stud Jordan Poole. Green just hasn’t been the same heart and soul for a side, who he has been one of the prime faces of for almost a decade.
That being said, it is safe to state that it does feel like Draymond Green has a lot to say and is done keeping things locked up in his heart. Hopefully, this time around it all comes out in the right way.
