Draymond Green got called out by fans for his first tweet following the altercation with Jordan Poole because of the subject of the tweet about fighting.
It has not been the best of times to be Draymond Green. The Golden State Warriors superstar is yet to sign a new deal with the Warriors with his current deal expiring in 2023, meaning that he will be a free agent only next summer. With his future at the franchise constantly being under speculation, an atmosphere of tension gave rise to an infamous and unprecedented scandal.
Owing to the uncertainty about his future at the Warriors, Green got involved in an altercation with his teammate Jordan Poole this off season. While Poole is set to be handed a lucrative contract extension soon, Green’s uncertainty over his future prompted a war of words between the pair in a practice session–building up to a point where Green infamously punched Poole.
The footage of the incident has since been leaked and even though Green has apologized to both Poole and the rest of the team, the Warriors’ locker room is now completely broken. Even though Green has been fined a hefty amount by the franchise, fans and analysts have pointed out a pattern in Green’s violent behaviour – and his latest tweet certainly didn’t help.
In his first tweet since the news of the altercation came out, Green chose to tweet about a fight – something that has not gone down well with fans.
Tweeting about the Claressa Shields versus Savannah Marshall fight, Green wrote: “That was not a very close fight. Very good fight indeed! But not close #ShieldsMarshall.” Even though the tweet was innocent and not implying anything at face value, it did not go down well with fans who pointed out that the very first tweet Green made following the altercation was about a fight.
While one fan said: “You’re back to tweeting and the first tweet is about fighting? Bruv…”, other tweets like “Draymond’s first tweet being about fighting…”, “This n**** knows about fights huh” were also very prevalent in the replies section.
