ESPN analyst Zach Lowe has spoken about why he thinks that Stephen Curry is the most marketable player in the NBA, and why he is more popular amongst kids than other legends.
Steph Curry is one of the best players in the world right now in his own right. The Golden State Warriors superstar has won four NBA Championships and two MVP awards, as well as a Finals MVP that he won at the beginning of this past summer as the Warriors won the Championship.
It was another triumph for the man who has revolutionized the game of basketball as we know it. Before Curry, NBA professionals hardly dared to attempt plenty of three-pointers. But since Steph was drafted by the Warriors in 2009, the three-pointers attempted on average in the league has gone up – and that trend is down to the man who is arguably the greatest shooter of all time.
Standing at 6’2, Curry made it believable for normal-sized men to do great in a big man’s sport. Naturally, Curry’s influence on the sport because of him breaking an age-old stereotype is immense and marketable – and sports manufacturing brand Under Armour have cashed in on his marketability.
Under Armour, who have sponsored Curry since 2013, have recently offered the 34-year-old a lifetime contract worth a billion dollars – which has got lots of people talking. One of them is reputed NBA analyst Zach Lowe who came clean about what he thinks of Curry.
What did Zach Lowe have to say about Stephen Curry?
Speaking on the show NBA Today with Kendrick Perkins and Mallika Andrews, Zach Lowe spoke about his thoughts on Curry.
When asked if he feels that Curry deserves the billion-dollar deal, Lowe said: “He deserves it! When you talk about a guy that changed the game of basketball forever, the light skin brother with the green eyes, I mean, he is something different. Coming off his first Finals MVP, winning another Championship, I mean, Steph Curry is basketball!”
When asked if he feels like Curry is most marketable player in the NBA now, Lowe said: “Steph Curry is very marketable. Because of his size, and the way he plays, kids can relate to him in a way they can’t relate to Shaq and LeBron… Steph is the People’s Champ, he’s the guy!”
