Kevin Durant just can not stay away from the headlines on social media, as he was dragged into the spotlight once again when a fan claimed that he FaceTime her son – but Twitter did not quite want to believe.
The Brooklyn Nets superstar was trending on Twitter once again after a fan tweeted about him FaceTiming her son on her request.
The fan tweeted from her account saying “Thank you @KDTrey5 for taking time out of your busy day to FaceTime my son who is a big fan.”
According to the fan, the two time NBA Champion and two time MVP was coming straight out of a business meeting when she confronted him and asked if he could FaceTime her son–to which the Brooklyn Nets superstar humbly obliged and made the young fan and her mother’s day.
It certainly felt like a warm gesture, but unfortunately for Durant courtesy of the cold reputation he has created – the NBA community on Twitter were not willing to believe the story.
What did the online fans have to say about the incident?
The NBA fans online did not quite want to believe that something like this happened courtesy of Durant’s reputation.
The non believers were in attendance in full numbers, as one of the eagle-eyed fans saw the date the account was created and asked “She created a Twitter account just for this?”
Another fan asked: “Maybe have your son FaceTime someone like LBJ that actually grinds and doesn’t join super teams? Just food for thought.”
However, the reply that caught the most eyeballs read “I bet this is KD’s burner. He claps back on his main now so he uses the burner to gas himself up for off the court shit. May not have even been a real kid but I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt. Building a brand 101. Smart business KD I’m impressed get that money.”
To the fans’ surprise, Durant liked this tweet himself – sparking further speculation about the legitimacy of the incident.
