NBA Twitter was left unimpressed as Russell Westbrook beat LeBron James and Anthony Davis in a three-point contest during the Los Angeles Lakers’ practice.
After a summer of speculation when it seemed that Russell Westbrook would be on his way out of the Los Angeles Lakers, it is now certain that Westbrook will be a part of the Lakers set-up at the start of the season at least. So in order to prove his worth after a disappointing couple of seasons, Westbrook seems to have improved his game – according to a lot of practice footage.
The latest practice footage featuring Westbrook has gone viral due to Russ beating out his teammates LeBron James and Anthony Davis at a three-pointer contest. While most of the criticism surrounding Westbrook last season was because of his inability to convert his jump shots, Westbrook looks like he has worked a lot on his jump shot according to the viral footage.
The footage featured Westbrook competing in a three-pointer contest with James and Davis. Westbrook’s jump shot – which looks altered and reworked on – was too good for either James or Davis as while Russ found the bucket with every attempt, LeBron and AD were not able to keep a 100% success rate.
However, not all fans were impressed with Russ’ revival.
It would be safe to say that the fans were not quite impressed by the footage, largely owing to the fact that it was only in practice and not a game situation.
While one fan said “That’s shooting for fun… those jumpers are not at game pace or while being serious… u can’t emulate real game speed or take anything from this at all…”, comments of a similar vein such as “He should do that in a game though” were also prevalent in the replies.
Only time will tell if Russ is in for a comeback season for the ages, when the Lakers begin their campaign against the Sacramento Kings on 4th October.
