The NBA Twitter community have come up with yet another hilarious take on their favourite superstars, and this time it’s Russell Westbrook who was trolled while working on his jump shot.
It would not be an exaggeration to say that Russell Westbrook had a disappointment of a campaign for the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2021/22 season.
‘Russ’ was way off his best which is so synonymous with him, and the veteran ended up racking a shot conversion percentage of 29.8% from three-pointers – something very uncharacteristic of him.
Russ’ shooting and the overall game saw such a stark decline that he was rumoured to have been put on the trading table, and those rumours only got more intense when the Lakers raked in Patrick Beverley from the Minnesota Timberwolves in a trade deal this off-season. However, due to a lack of suitors, it now seems like Westbrook is set to stay with the Lakers for another season.
Hence, when Russ joined up with the Lakers in their pre-season camp ahead of the upcoming 2022/23 season, he naturally felt the need to work on his jump-shot ability.
And so he did, as a video of Westbrook shooting threes this off-season emerged on social media – and Russ seemed like his old self again, racking up four consecutive three-pointers with an improved jump shot.
However, the fans did not seem to be too happy about the video.
The NBA fans on Twitter ripped into Russ and trolled him for his jump shot.
While one fans hilariously asked “Isn’t that what we said last year lol”, another commented: “Wow if russ keeps this up, instead of shooting 29.8% from 3, he’ll shoot 32%.”
However, some fans saw a bit of a difference in his shooting form as one of them wrote: “His guide hand doesn’t follow all the way through as it used to, the release point is slightly lowered than where it used to be & hes not jumping as high. I would say it’s a transformation.”
It is certainly for time to say if Russ can take his shooting form from the gym to the court.
