Kevin Durant was once again in the headlines, this time after NBA analyst called him out for being an “abject failure” – while his fans called Barkley out for his lack of NBA Championships.
NBA analyst Charles Barkley called KD an “abject failure” for not being able to lead his franchise to an NBA Championship all alone.
KD often gets his fair share of slander for not being able to win a ring for his franchise all by himself, and Barkley proved to be his latest detractor.
Shaquille O’Neal also agreed with Barkley’s point of view on his podcast, as he said about Durant: “If you’re the guy and you ain’t get it done, that means you failed.”
Speaking on The Big Podcast with Nischelle Turner and Spice James, Shaq said: “Chuck was absolutely right,” and explained his perspective.
“If you go back and look at his career as the best player and being the leader, all of that goes with that. We were there, we saw it. OKC 3-1 up, one more game. And when you’re the guy, all the pressure goes on you. A lot of people were talking about the bus driver, and Chuck was absolutely right – you were not driving the bus at Golden State” said Shaq.
“You were on the bus, you were sitting in front but you weren’t driving it.” When asked if Barkley looks at his own career as a disappointment because he didn’t win any Championships, Shaq said: “He does and he always talks about it.” Shaq reiterated his point and said “if you’re the guy and you ain’t get it done, that means you failed” – while talking about Durant.
However, KD’s fans on Twitter did not agree with Shaq and ripped into Barkley.
What did KD’s fans have to say about Barkley?
KD’s loyal support on Twitter did not like Barkley’s comments.
While one said: “I’m waiting on Barkley to show us his championship ring, I’ll be sitting by the pool getting my sip on until then”, another said: “MVP and a trip to the finals – that’s as good as Barkley’s career.”
While a Twitter user said “So Charles Barkley saying his career was a failure? That’s crazy”, another commented: “I wonder if Barkley would consider his own career an abject failure then?”
