Former head coach Stan Van Gandy has joined the clan to question the credibility of modern-day rules in NBA. He is often known to have an old school approach towards the game of basketball.
Stan Van Gundy has managed 4 elites in the NBA. Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, Detroit Pistons, New Orleans Pelicans. He was introduced to the Miami Heat by Pat Riley when he left New York Knicks to coach the franchise. After the abrupt departure of Pat, Stand Van Gundy was promoted as the head coach prior to the 2003-04 season.
Stan was a 2-time NBA All-Star Head Coach and he has expressed his concerns with the game. He tweeted,
“90’s NBA teams had just a trainer and a strength coach, they practiced more often and harder and played more back to backs. Teams now have huge medical & “performance” staffs and value rest over practice. Yet injuries and games missed are way up. Something’s not working!”
Stan Van Gundy said the Brooklyn Nets have issues within themselves
“I think potentially they have the makings of a good roster. The real issue is that they have issues,” said Van Gundy, “They have a lot of issues.”
The Brooklyn Nets was swept by the Celtics Boston last season in the playoffs. Their new big 3, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons have led their team to the 4th spot in the Eastern Conference.
They have a record of 27-16 with a winning percentage of .628. Stan Van Gundy said before the start of the season, “Over time — Reggie’s been there with teams — are guys going to look around and really have trust for other guys? Or will they be looking around saying, ‘You know what, that dude is going to let us down. I know he is. We can’t count on him,’”
“And so they’ve got a lot to overcome in that way, which I think may even be more important than the talent they put out on the floor.”
