It has been recently revealed that a franchise’s value can jump by 50% if it features LeBron James and his son Bronny playing together.
LeBron James is considered by many as one of the greatest players in the history of the game. He has achieved numerous milestones in his career, including winning multiple NBA championships and being named the league’s Most Valuable Player several times. However, the legacy of his name is not nearing its end as the NBA prepares to welcome Bronny James into it soon enough.
With LeBron approaching the end of his career as many people like to think, he has often expressed his desire to play alongside his son for a season before he hangs his boots up. Speaking to The Athletic in 2022, LeBron said: “My last year will be played with my son. Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point.”
With Bronny set to be eligible to be drafted into the NBA in the 2024 Draft, it seems like a very real possibility. And as it turns out, their union could have unprecedented consequences.
Based on the potential power of the father-son duo being teammates, Dorfman believes that the epic matchup would disrupt the NBA.
LeBron and Bronny could potentially double the value of an NBA franchise in 2024, according to an industry expert. “Assuming it’d be a middle-of-the-road team that drafts high enough to pick Bronny and then signs dad, their franchise value could jump as much as 50%,” Pinnacle Advertising Creative Director, Bob Dorfman said, according to Forbes.
“A franchise like Orlando [Magic] could double their $1.85 billion value practically overnight.” Dorfman added: “The marketing implications are Brontastic. The franchise value of the team that lands them will skyrocket, their games will become must-see events that command huge ticket prices and prime-time viewing slots, and they could quickly turn into a playoff powerhouse.”
