Goran Dragic recently talked about how it felt playing for the Brooklyn Nets with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, and it wasn’t good.
Goran Dragic signed for the Brooklyn Nets last season. It looked like a great addition for the Nets, as they looked to make a charge towards the championship. Dragic played alongside Nets head coach Steve Nash during his time in Phoenix, and it seemed like things would work for the Slovenian.
Unfortunately, the Nets got swept in the first round of the playoffs. It was due to various reasons. Ben Simmons was still injured, while the Celtics were just too good. Dragic himself knows he didn’t play his best game with the Nets.
Recently Dragic talked about his time in Brooklyn. Fair to say, he didn’t enjoy it much. His comments further signified the deep problems of the Nets that have led to this point of blowing up the team.
Goran Dragic said, “I played with some stars like Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, and I have to admit that it was quite difficult because the focus was not the team, but more the individual performances of the individuals.”
Goran Dragic was traded to the Toronto Raptors at the beginning of last season. He didn’t play much there and wanted to leave them. As a result, prior to joining the Nets, he didn’t have many minutes under his belt.
Dragic said, “It was really tough last year, but that’s part of the sport. I’m happy that I came to the club environment that I wanted, in which I know that I will play, where I can reach consistency again, and that’s what I’m most happy about.”
He added, “Last season, I didn’t play for four months, then I came to Brooklyn and immediately played 30 minutes, which was difficult. The season was really not successful, but the most important thing is that it is behind us, it is in the past and now we can only look forward.”
