Charlotte Hornets Forward Gordon Hayward has suffered a shoulder injury and here is more about his return date
The injury curse of Charlotte Hornets seems to be never-ending. This NBA season the injury woes of Hornets have been particularly pathetic.
First, it began with LaMelo Ball, who missed the start of the season with a sprained ankle. He eventually got back and played just three games before re-injuring his ankle by stepping on a fan’s foot while chasing a loose ball out of bounds.
Cody Martin is out with an injured knee, and Dennis Smith Jr. is also out with a sprained ankle. Further, Miles Bridges is out due to felony charges.
Now, the Hornets have a new addition to their injury list. Charlotte’s Forward, Gordon Hayward is out indefinitely with a fractured shoulder.
When will Gordon Hayward return from the injury?
Hayward’s shoulder issue is not new. His issues date back to the November 2 game, when Gordon did not return for the second half of Charlotte’s loss to the Chicago Bulls.
After this, Hayward was out for the next eight games with what was diagnosed as a shoulder bruise. He finally returned on November 18 against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Hayward went on to play three games, but his form did not look natural and also Hayward appeared to have re-injured his shoulder against the Washington Wizards on November 20.
On November 23, Hayward had a poor game against the Philadelphia 76ers. He finished with seven points and four turnovers on 3-of-10 shooting.
Finally, the team shut him down. Hayward is now out indefinitely and it’s unclear when he’ll return to the court now that the fracture on his left shoulder has been discovered.
According to Hayward’s agent, Mark Bartelstein, Gordon will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis.
Gordon Hayward’s wife blasts the Hornets management for not protecting its players
Before the Hornets, Gordon Hayward’s wife made Hayward’s shoulder injury official, Robyn Hayward posted a screenshot of the Hornets’ official injury report with the shoulder contusion line.
She called out the team, claiming that Gordon had sustained a fractured left scapula, aka. the shoulder blade, but the Hornets had him play through it.
Furthermore, she also said that she is frustrated with how the team had been treating her husband, saying the team had failed to protect not just Gordon, but other players as well.
