On Friday, when LeBron James had his mother and wife sitting courtside to cheer him up on his 38th birthday, the Los Angeles Lakers didn’t disappoint his loved ones. The 4-time NBA Champ not only dropped season-high 47 points to register a hard-fought win for the purple and gold franchise, but even uplifted his GOAT candidature.
The same was acknowledged by Atlanta Hawks center, Onyeka Okongwu, who heaped praise on LeBron James by deeming him the greatest of all-time as per Kevin Chouinard of Hawks.com.
“To me, he’s the greatest of all time,” Okongwu offered postgame on Friday. “Me and John being in foul trouble doesn’t help, either. He’s just a physical specimen going downhill. It’s so hard sometimes; you have to foul him. He’s a tough cover. We’ll see him again a week from today.”
The debate for who is better amongst Michael Jordan and LeBron James is going to be a never-ending tail. But to know that this 38-year-old veteran is averaging more than 28 points per game even in his 20th season in the NBA, is just phenomenal. Perhaps there is no adjective made to describe his talent on the basketball court.
To be even more precise about Bron has been managing to do in the modern-day league – King James is averaging unprecedented sums at this juncture in a career: 28.5 points on .506/.309/.753 shooting splits, 8.1 rebounds, 6.6 assists and a steal.
To understand his greatness – this is coming from a player who is having the capability to lead a franchise being 38 and is currently 13th seed in the Western Conference. Could we witness the unexpected this time around for LeBron? Remains to be seen.
