Hornets’ 1st quarter heroics highlights concerning take on Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bucks

Published by

After a stellar 9-0 start in the 2022-23 NBA Season, the Milwaukee Bucks haven’t been able to establish themselves as the best team. Despite Khris Middleton not being able to contribute significantly to the team’s success, it seemed like Giannis Antetokounmpo has caught the right nerve to motivate his teammates in order to lead them to victories. However, the past weeks haven’t gone down well, more so on Friday, things went bad to worse at the hands of the Charlotte Hornets.

The Hornets led by LaMelo Ball were coming into this showdown on the backs of a 24-point beatdown at the hands of the Memphis Grizzlies and were subsequently not deemed the favorite to win this game either. But what happened in the very 1st quarter of the game has some fans shocked till now.

Charlotte Hornets dropped 51 points against the Milwaukee Bucks, who had Giannis Antetokounmpo on the floor for them. Eventually, the Bucks lost more than 29 points (138-109), making this the fourth occasion where they have lost by a 20-point margin ever since their 41-point evisceration at the hands of the Memphis Grizzlies.

What was even more shocking? Giannis Antetokounmpo could not find his rhythm throughout the four quarters as he registered a mere 9 points against his name. As a result of which Coach Mike Budenholzer minced no words, saying that his team has failed to bring the requisite energy to compete on some nights.

“Defensively, we have not been able to get stops in those games. We dug ourselves a big hole early in those games. We haven’t matched what it takes to be competitive in an NBA game on multiple occasions now and it’s concerning,” Budenholzer said, per Bally Sports Wisconsin.
